Outline Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary of Manaslu Circuit Trek

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, welcome and hotel transfer. Meet your guide for trek briefing and permit check. Explore nearby areas if time permits. Overnight in Kathmandu, preparing for an incredible Himalayan journey into the remote Manaslu region.

A long but scenic drive through rivers, terraced fields, and hillside villages via Arughat and Soti Khola. The road follows the Budhi Gandaki River, offering glimpses of rural Nepal and local life. Overnight in Machha Khola.

Follow winding trails along the river, crossing suspension bridges and passing waterfalls. Walk through subtropical forests and small Gurung villages. Enter the restricted Manaslu area at Jagat, a charming stone village with traditional architecture.

Climb gradually through forests and cross several bridges. The trail narrows with dramatic cliffs and river views. Buddhist culture becomes more visible with mani stones and prayer flags. Overnight in Deng.

Ascend through forests and traditional villages influenced by Tibetan culture. Enjoy views of Ganesh Himal and surrounding peaks. Pass mani walls and monasteries before reaching Namrung, a beautiful village with strong mountain scenery.

Trek through alpine forests and open valleys. Witness breathtaking mountain panoramas, including Mount Manaslu. Syala offers one of the best viewpoints with a wide Himalayan range.

Rest and acclimatize. Optional hike to Manaslu Base Camp or Pungyen Gompa. Enjoy close-up views of glaciers and mountains while helping your body adjust to altitude.

A short trek across yak pastures and barren landscapes. Samdo is a Tibetan refugee village near the border. Experience unique culture and enjoy expansive mountain views.

Gradual ascent towards the base of Larkya La Pass. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine. Early rest is recommended for next day’s challenging pass crossing.

The most challenging and rewarding day. Cross the high pass with breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks. Descend through glaciers to Bimthang.

Descend through rhododendron forests and fertile valleys. Pass small settlements and enjoy warmer temperatures. Join the Annapurna Circuit at Dharapani.

A long scenic drive back to Kathmandu through hills, rivers, and villages. Celebrate completion of the trek and relax at your hotel.

Transfer to the airport for your onward journey. Departure with unforgettable memories of the Manaslu adventure.

🪪 Required Permits

To trek in the Manaslu region, you need four permits:

Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP)

  • Mandatory for all trekkers
  • Peak season (Sep–Nov, Mar–May):
    • USD 100 (first 7 days)
    • USD 15 per extra day
  • Off-season (Dec–Aug):
    • USD 75 (first 7 days)
    • USD 10 per extra day
  • Must be arranged through a registered trekking agency

Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP)

  • Required for entering the Manaslu conservation region
  • Cost:
    • NPR 3,000 (foreigners)
    • NPR 1,000 (SAARC)
  • Valid for entire trek

🌄 Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

  • Needed because the trek exits via the Annapurna region
  • Cost:
    • NPR 3,000 (foreigners)
    • NPR 1,000 (SAARC)

🏘️ Chumnubri Rural Municipality Permit

  • Local government fee
  • Cost: around NPR 1,000–2,000
  • Collected along the trail

⚠️ Important Rules

  • A licensed guide is mandatory
  • Permits must be issued through a registered trekking agency
  • Solo trekking is restricted in practice (guide required)
  • Minimum permit days apply (RAP counted from restricted section)
