Gokyo–Cho La Pass–Everest Base Camp Trek

Scenic mountain flight to Lukla, gateway of Everest. Meet trekking crew and begin gentle descent to Phakding along Dudh Koshi River. Cross suspension bridges and small Sherpa villages. Easy walking day for acclimatization and river valley experience in peaceful Himalayan surroundings.

Enter Sagarmatha National Park and cross famous Hillary Bridge. Steep climb through pine forests leads to Namche Bazaar. First clear views of Everest possible. Namche is the vibrant Sherpa hub with shops, cafés, and trekking culture.

Rest and acclimatize. Optional hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880 m) for panoramic Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse views. Visit Sherpa Museum or Khumjung village. Important day to adapt to altitude and prepare for higher regions ahead.

Climb gradually out of Namche via Mong La with stunning mountain scenery. Trail enters quieter Gokyo valley route through forests and yak pastures. Dole is a small settlement offering peaceful alpine atmosphere and basic lodges.

Steady uphill walk with wide Himalayan views including Cho Oyu. Pass yak herder settlements and scenic ridges. Machhermo is known for its tranquil environment and historical Yeti legends. Good stop for altitude adaptation.

Follow glacial valley beside Ngozumpa Glacier. Gradual ascent leads to beautiful Gokyo village beside turquoise lakes. First magical view of Gokyo Lakes appears. One of the most scenic destinations in the Everest region.

Rest day. Optional hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) for panoramic Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu views. One of the best viewpoints in Nepal. Relax near lakes and prepare for Cho La Pass crossing.

Short trek across rocky moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier. Trail becomes rugged and icy. Thangnak is a small settlement used as base for Cho La Pass. Rest early for challenging next day.

Challenging and technical day crossing Cho La Pass with steep ascent and glacier terrain. Requires careful walking or crampons. From top enjoy dramatic Himalayan views. Long descent to Dzongla completes one of the trek’s most adventurous sections.

Join main Everest Base Camp trail. Easy gradual walk with views of Pumori and Nuptse. Lobuche is a busy high-altitude settlement. Rest and prepare for Everest Base Camp journey next day.

Trek across rocky glacier terrain to Everest Base Camp. Close view of Khumbu Icefall and expedition tents (seasonal). No Everest summit view but historic achievement. Return to Gorak Shep for overnight stay.

Early morning hike to Kala Patthar for best Everest sunrise view. Descend to Gorak Shep and continue long trek to Pheriche. Easier breathing at lower altitude. Beautiful Himalayan panoramas throughout descent.

Descend through Pangboche and Tengboche areas with monastery views. Trail passes forests and river valleys. Kyangjuma offers peaceful stay near Namche region. Comfortable altitude after high mountain journey.

Long descent through Namche Bazaar and suspension bridges. Follow Dudh Koshi River valley. Oxygen increases and walking becomes easier. Final night in lower Everest region.

Short final trek to Lukla. Celebrate completion of Everest Base Camp and Gokyo-Chola Pass circuit with crew. Farewell dinner and preparation for flight.

Morning flight to Kathmandu depending on weather. Transfer to hotel. Free day for rest, shopping, or sightseeing in Thamel. End of trekking journey.

Transfer to airport for international flight. End of unforgettable Himalayan adventure filled with Everest Base Camp, Gokyo Lakes, and Cho La Pass memories.
